Make a Financial Contribution

The Burlington Emergency Shelter (BES) is a Christian Homeless shelter, established in 1982.  We are a homeless shelter for up to 16 men and 4 women.  In addition, we run the Good Neighbor Program with the ability to house up to 8 men.  Most of these men are from the Corrections system looking to change their lives and become productive members of society once again.  They partner with us in the program from six to twelve months.

BES is a nonprofit corporation that is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. We are a privately funded organization that relies solely on charitable donations from individuals, churches, businesses and grants.Your donations to BES are tax deductible. By supporting BES you are supporting homeless adults looking for employment.

It is your contributions that keep BES going. Without the generosity of people like you, BES would not exist. You can help us by making a financial contribution to our programs, or by volunteering.

Employer Matching Programs

There are a number of businesses and companies that will match employee's or retiree's gifts to the Burlington Emergency Shelter.  Some of them that we have heard of are: Allstate, Liberty Mutual, Waco, IBM, GE, Sears, National Life, Walmart, Ben & Jerry's, Home Depot, Best Buy, Starbucks, Green Mountain Roasters, Wachovia.  There are many more.

You need to check how to get a matching gift from you business.  For instance: GE requires that gifts made in 2008 be registered by the donor by April 15th.

This is a great opportunity to double you gift to the shelter.  Our tax ID # 03-0287599.
